Whether you travel to The Old School by plane, train or
car you can be sure you will pass through some of the most fantastic
Scottish scenery on route.
The nearest airport is Glasgow International, the
nearest train station is Taynuilt, on the Glasgow Oban line. The train ride
passes through some of the most scenic countryside on its journey from
Glasgow to Oban, skirting mountains and lochs with a chance to relax
as you take in the views.
The drive to the Old School can be long, but take the time to enjoy
the journey and you could start your holiday with views of Scotland's
awesome mountains, majestic birds of prey, and rare animals all native
to the Scottish highlands.
Travelling North via M6
- M6 Northbound
- A74(M) to Scotland
- A74M signposted The north, Glasgow, Edinburgh
- Continue onto the M74
- Leave the M74 at Junction 4
- Join the M73 signposted Stirling, Glasgow
- Branch left to join the M8 signposted Glasgow, City Centre
- Follow signs towards Glasgow Airport, Kilmarnock, Greenock
- At Junction 22 keep right and continue towards Glasgow Airport
- Continue forward at Junction 29 signposted Erskine Bridge
- Leave the M8 at Junction 30 to join the M898 signposted
Erskine Bridge & Crainlarich
- Merge onto A82 signposted Crainlarich
- Keep following the A82 signposted Crainlarich (this takes
you along Loch Lomond)
- At Crainlarich keep on the A82 now signposted Fort William
and Oban
- At Tyndrum, just after the Green Welly Stop, take the A85
signposted Oban
- After approximately 23 miles, just after entering the village
of Taynuilt, turn left onto the B845 signposted Dalavich, Kilchrenan
(not this is steep, sharp turn)
- Follow this single track road for 14 miles until you reach
Dalavich village
The Old School is located virtually opposite the
Village Store and Post Office.
